Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela has been established by an Act of the Assembly, Government of Orissa in June 2002. All Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture, HMCT, and most of the colleges offering MCA and MBA degree programmes are either constituent or affiliated colleges of this University.

All the students to be admitted (except those to be admitted to Medical and BDS colleges, Pharmacy and MCA Courses in other Universities of the State) through JEE 2005 will be registered students of the University. The University will ensure the quality and standard of technical education in the State. It adopts a non - negotiable academic calender to ensure timely completion of the examinations and degree requirements.
